This is an experimental technology
Because this technology's specification has not stabilized, check the compatibility table for usage in various browsers. Also note that the syntax and behavior of an experimental technology is subject to change in future versions of browsers as the specification changes.
The ServiceWorkerGlobalScope.onmessage event of the ServiceWorkerGlobalScope
interface is called whenever incoming messages are received.
Note: Messages sent to service worker contexts (e.g. as the event object of onmessage
are represented by MessageEvent
objects in modern browsers, for consistency with other web messaging features. (They used to be represented by ServiceWorkerMessageEvent
objects, which have now been deprecated.)
Syntax
ServiceWorkerGlobalScope.onmessage = function(MessageEvent) { ... }
Example
self.addEventListener('message', function(messageEvent) { console.log('Handling message event:', messageEvent); }
